Delbert R. Hanning

BARBERTON Delbert R. Hanning, 86, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009.

Born in Athens County, Ohio he was a descendent of the earliest settlers of Athens County (1797) Matthew William Hanning and was a 1939 graduate of Shade High School in Athens. Delbert was a resident of Barberton since 1940, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and retired from Goodyear as an electrician with 35 years of service. He was a member of Barberton Lodge #750 F&AM, Barberton Moose Lodge #759 and the Grange in Athens, Ohio.

Preceded in death by his parents, John Charles and Mazie Christina (Gilkey) Hanning; wife, Laura May (Gray) Hanning; sister, Muriel Keoughan; brothers, Darrell, Verrell, Alton and Kermit Hanning; Delbert is survived by daughter, Teresa Hanning (Rod) Bodosi; son, Robert R. Hanning; grandchildren, Kimberly Bodosi (Mike) Adkins and Randy Bodosi; great-grandchildren, Devin and Amanda Adkins; sister, Margaret Hill of Corvallis, Oregon; sister-in-law, Mary Hanning of Albany, Ohio; and many niece and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Avenue, Barberton 44203, with Mike Freeman officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors by Firestone VFW 3383. Calling hours will be Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., with Masonic Services at 7 p.m. (Campfield-Hickman-Collier, 330-745-3161)
